Filmmaking has never been a more meaningful and useful skill for kids to learn. With smart phones and user friendly applications letting kids shoot, edit, and publish their own movies at will, Kid A’s filmmaking class teaches the principals of good storytelling for the YouTube generation.

Through learning all the skills to make a film, we are encouraging kids to see themselves as original storytellers who can make sense of their world through their insight and vision. They will develop as artists who can take a concept from their imagination and construct it piece by piece to completion and publication.

The study of filmmaking teaches kids to be curious about their lives, interested in community issues and tell stories that relate to them. Classes are not about providing kids with expensive equipment. All kids today have smartphones or access to iPads with high quality cameras. We have the same equipment but offer the artistic training and an added option of learning animation skills to give them every confidence to get out there and create fresh, original product. This is a contemporary class that is highly relevant, engaging and enjoyable for everyone.
