INTO THE WOODS
LORD OF THE FLIES
Spring School Holiday Stage Camp
8 to 12 October

INTO THE WOODS is an acclaimed Broadway musical that tells an original tale of a baker and his wife who must collect magical items from the classic Grimm fairy tales ‘Cinderella’, ‘Little Red Riding Hood’, Jack and the Beanstalk’ and ‘Rapunzel’, to reverse a witch’s curse.

With an award winning and challenging vocal score by Steven Sondheim, this spring holiday stage camp offers young actors, singers and dancers from 7 - 17 years an array of strong contrasting characters that showcase their talents.

From the first rehearsal to performance, our campers will have their work cut out for them as they bring this witty and contemporary take on classic fairy tales to the stage.

Perfect for young actors, singers and dancers (and not necessarily all three) with a love of good storytelling, big characterization and comedy and a fantastic opportunity to work with our creative team for the mainstage production in 2019.

Directed by Guillaume Barriere (NIDA, NYFI, ATYP)
Musical Direction by Miranda Macpherson (WAAPA Musical Theatre)

LORD OF THE FLIES by William Golding is one of the most famous novels of the 20th century. Adapted for the stage by Nigel Williams, this play explores a group of school boys abandoned after their plane crashed on a desert island during WW2. Without adults and laws to guide them, many descend into savagery and overwhelm the few who preach order and civility. LOTF is a classic and brutal tale of humanity’s instinct to destroy ourselves and each other, made the more meaningful when told through the eyes of children.

Our campers will explore the themes of survival and group dynamics in Lord of the Flies and improvise scenes based around power and leadership. Scenes from the play will also be rehearsed for performance at the camp concert.

Perfect for young actors in years 5 - 9 with a serious interest in craft and performance and for those wishing to audition for our main stage production in 2019.
Directed by Guillaume Barriere (NIDA, NYFI, ATYP).
