Bonnie Cowan
Actor/Puppeteer/Performance Artist
Bonnie recently graduated from the University of Wollongong's theatre course, known for creating contemporary, innovative performance artists. During her degree, she spent a year studying abroad with the University of East Anglia in England, which gave her an incredible range of global performance skills. Bonnie was the Drama Specialist at YMCA Camp Collins in Oregon, USA in 2012 and subsequently toured Northern Italy teaching English through songs, drama and games to students. She has been a children's entertainer in both Tasmania and NSW for over six years, and has skills as a professional puppeteer.
As an artist, she is interested in creating performance installations, site-specific works and one-on-one performances. In April this year, she was commissioned to make my first solo performance instillation, unravelling, as part of Canberra's 'You Are Here' festival. Earlier in the year, Bonnie and performance collaborator, Louisa Raft, were commissioned to make a collaborative performance instillation, Fifty-Five See, for Wollongong's 'Nocturnal Arts' festival and in June 2015 Bonnie had the privilege of working alongside her performance idol, Marina Abramović, as a facilitator for Marina Abramović: In Residence.
